Jinbe, formerly one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, is the second captain of the Sun Pirates. He is a whale shark Fish-Man and has another name, "First Son of the Sea" Jinbe. This Fish-Man Karate master respects obligation and loyalty, and is committed to benevolence and justice, so the Fish-Man Islanders endearingly call him “Boss.” He met the Straw Hats again at Fish-Man Island and put down an internal insurrection provoked by the New Fish-Man Pirates. After that, Luffy asked him to join his group, but Jinbe refused because he was under an obligation to Big Mom. However, he promised that when he completed his unfinished business, he would join.
